This is an excerpt from a NCDA Brand Identity Guidebook that is being put together. Its purpose is to establish a common base of how the NCDA could operate in various mediums. The forum is one of the easiest places to store this running tally. It also gives members the ability to submit input on to what the NCDA is and where it's going, so feel the freedom to comment.
NCDA Internet Identity Guidelines > Records > G-Drive Spreadsheet
Official Records - Google Drive Spreadsheet
Google Drive (formerly Google Docs) has been used to publicly display and publish NCDA's records for the 2011, 2012, 2013 seasons. Each sheet, one per season, includes two fundamental parts, the Schedule Section and the Standings Section. Nationals is recorded in its own sheet ("Nationals") within the Seasonal spreadsheet, grabbing data from the "Season" sheet as applicable.
Schedule
The schedule, posted in a running list on the left, records things including:
Varsity Matches, Junior Varsity, Scrimmages, and NCDA Non-Match Events are included in the Records.
Varsity Matches: W/L IDs filled out normally
Junior Varsity: W/L IDs left blank for Varsity Teams, filled out normally for JV, win or loss.
Scrimmages / Off Season Exhibitions: W/L IDs left blank
NCDA Non-Match Events: W/L IDs left blank
Standings
The standings section is posted in a running list on the right. The actual data calculation is hidden in gray text, at N50, below the info box. The top standings box, in full black text and colored regions, is an Array Formula of the hidden bottom standings section. It auto sorts the standings by Z-A pts, Z-A WL%, Z-A Matches Played, A-Z ID.
Due to technical reasons, Standing Placements and the Region Color must be manually reorganized whenever finished games are added to the Schedule list.
The standings section records things including:
Upcoming Member List
The Upcoming Member Teams displays information identical to the Standings section, ready to be included once a UM team plays a match.
JV Standings
JV Standings are identical to the Standings section, only they do not record Standings Points. Also, each JV team is listed as their Varsity team's ID, with 8 as a prefix. Example: 806 denotes GV-JV.

Schedule
The schedule, posted in a running list on the left, records things including:
- Dates
- Venues - Hosting Team (MSU, JMU) or Abbreviation of Location for special events (SCOR or Eliz-HS)
- Event Names - For future database recording, event name is listed for every match. This makes it easier to code "print outs" for the future "Past Matches" ticker project.
- Playing Teams - Using the Official Acronym
- Final Match Score
- Overtimes (or Forfeit) - Entering "1" will denote an overtime loss. Other numbers are not needed, but letters may dignify certain instances to complement the Point Score. F or S for Forfeit or Scrimmage, for example.
- Winning and Losing Team IDs - Numerical Team IDs are used to record the data in the Standings section.
- OT Team ID - The ID of the team that lost a game in overtime.
Varsity Matches, Junior Varsity, Scrimmages, and NCDA Non-Match Events are included in the Records.
Varsity Matches: W/L IDs filled out normally
Junior Varsity: W/L IDs left blank for Varsity Teams, filled out normally for JV, win or loss.

Due to technical reasons, Standing Placements and the Region Color must be manually reorganized whenever finished games are added to the Schedule list.
The standings section records things including:
- Placing - Because of ties in the standings, this is manually entered.
- Region - This is an approximation of a certain grouping of teams that play each other, and can be edited any time.
- Team ID - # ID is based on when a team joined the NCDA. For Founding teams, it is by the year of that team's creation.
- Full University Name - For space conservation, University and College are shortened to U and C respectively.
- Official Acronym - A unique acronym, case sensitive, sanctioned by the individual team or university guidelines.
- Wins - Formula: Counts the number of [Team ID] instances in the [W Tm ID] column. A win is valued as 2 Standings Points.
- Losses, including overtime Losses - Counting overtime losses as part of total losses saves space, an extra column would be needed to subtract the OT loss and that makes things messier. A loss is valued as 0 Standings Points.
- Overtime Losses - Formula: Counts the number of [Team ID] instances in the [OT Tm ID] column. OTL are valued as 1 Standings Points.
- Points - Formula: Sums the result of: [Team Wins] * 2, then adds the amount of [Overtime Losses].
- Win / Loss Percentage - Formula: (Team wins) / (Wins + Losses), but protected by a divide by zero error. If result is an error, display 0.
- Total Matches Played - Formula: Counts Wins + Losses
Upcoming Member List
The Upcoming Member Teams displays information identical to the Standings section, ready to be included once a UM team plays a match.
JV Standings
JV Standings are identical to the Standings section, only they do not record Standings Points. Also, each JV team is listed as their Varsity team's ID, with 8 as a prefix. Example: 806 denotes GV-JV.
