Not saying that this isn’t a well run website (actually, I think it’s done phenomenally. Good job Raymer) but I have a few ideas for the website that I think would help.
-Each team should write a story throughout the year. Obviously since this website is run by the WKU team, there are a lot of stories on the WKU team. But how often do you get to see something about BGSU, Saginaw, or Depaul? I think if each team sent in a story it would work really make the site even better than it already is. I’m not saying that they need to be significantly long stories, but just interesting ones (for examples, how the team has done recruiting, any interesting new players, team development). Obviously there is no way to enforce the “every team write a story”, but I have a feeling that every team would have at least one person that would/could write one.
-We should also try to have someone do a write up of every game or tournament. WKU does a great job of filming their games, so when they play someone I can watch it, but if someone at WKU wanted to know what happened in a game between MSU and CMU, they would only see the score. I think in a similar situation to the team write ups, if someone from either team or whatever could write just a short blurb or a full story on each game/tournament, it’d be beneficial to people throughout the league and people who view the site.
-Obviously with the new points system the debate for how the standings should be done is over, but if the standings could be updated regularly that would be awesome. Same with the results page. And with the results page, if people write a story on the game/tournament, the result could link to the article and have the scores and stuff in them.
Overall this is a league wide initiative that I think we could all work together for and accomplish. It would help bring the league closer together and make it so that our teams, our fans (as few as we currently have), and currently interested schools can find out more information on the league. We already have numerous things in place that are working great (the Youtube page, Twitter, and the forums for example) but I think if these things happen that the league would be better off.
Just my own opinion, feel free to shoot me down completely, come up with your own ideas, or whatever.
