this is from either december 08 or january 09 im pretty sure. looking at the rankings at that point and comparing them to how the season ended is pretty funny, especially CMU at 10. i know we did a second polling in february of that year that looked more like the season ended (https://www.msu.edu/~youngsm4/SelectSeason/Seasons/2008/Rankings.html) but still, humorous that somebody found this.

LOL this is 2 years old. It was my Sophomore year. I remember the Kentucky Classic that one of the comments alludes to. KSU, SVSU, and MSU all went undefeated and all of the Kentucky teams (UK, WKU, and U of L) went 0-3. I think we outscored our opponents like 20-4 and still didn't get the overall win because SVSU had a bigger point differential.

haha, just keeping everybody on their toes. However, this does bring up a larger point I would like to make. I think there should be an updated ranking. Thoughts?

There should be no rankings. This is a stupid idea when there is no set schedule.

LMFAO, love those rankings Bomis. But actually, based on ratings from the previous year, UK would be #2 because their winning %.

Yeah, I think rankings are stupid considering they don't mean anything. It's not like we use them at all at nationals... I think there might still be some residual bitterness lol.

Screw rankings. If a individual person wants to have their own "Power rankings" then thats fine. But I dont think rankings should be on the website unless they are using Mike Youngs little formula thing.

I definitely am in the minority when it comes to this, but I think rankings are a good idea. Although they should be totally thrown out the window when it comes to nationals, it gives regular season matches more relevance and competition. Also, it would help to spotlight teams that are performing well and maybe are unheard of.
Another advantage would be that it would improve recruiting to be able to say, "We have been consistently ranked in the NCDA Top 10 Poll"
I seriously think we should take official rankings into consideration, using a poll of various captains.

What about having at least a standings that show the wins losses of teams? Have the team with the best record up top and the worst at the bottom.
The only problem is strength of schedule.
But I am in favor of rankings of some sort.

We are not saying we don't want rankings. They just have no relevance as of right now, because there are teams that play 10 games and there are teams that play none until Nationals.

I feel like its 2008 all over again! I'm with McCarthy 1000000000% here, we don't need rankings. Even in 08-09 when we tried it, we had what, 5 captains vote? And it didn't mean jack. This whole thing is pointless and won't really mean anything. So if anybody wants to make their own power rankings like Spencer said, go ahead and do it! But to have it mean anything for the season, when we have like 6 teams that play 10+ games and then another 10-15 teams that play like 1-5 games, is just a waste of people's time.
