Bomis is absolutely right on this. Not only do I think it's pathetic when someone can't stop before they drill someone on the break, but I can't stand to see someone playing with integrity getting his knee messed up when another player throws his caution to the wind. For those that charge at the break, you get whats coming to you most of the time. Bomis is right that people do get hurt, even this year our team president has hurt his knee on the break and he's got more dodgeball sense than most of our team combined and it was in a pointless point of all things. *no pun intended* Please let's consider giving each team 5 balls to start and for every point you win you get one more ball on the next point. 10 to 0 would obviously be the max disparity.

I was just wondering, could you guys try this concept a couple times during one of your practices to see how it goes? That way you can get feedback from your players and even try a couple different things. For example, start with the balls being immediately live but the balls at mid court need to be relayed, all balls need to be relayed, that sorta thing. I'm going to give it a try at our practice tonight to see how things go with it. That way even if you don't want to change it you can try it out just to remain open minded.

Stokes, we will try to do this in our practice next semester. I will give you as much feedback as I can but we are in finals week this week so our next available practice time is next semester.

i understand that there are injuries in the rush, but its all part of the game... many or these injuries are just as likely to come about in the normal play of the game... although i do like the idea that if someone does cause a colision/ injury in the opening rush, call them out... it would still allow for the rush and it would possibly make players be a little more careful

It is important to remember that the game is just dodgeball, a fun play ground game. Don't get me wrong I love the sport and devoted a ton of time to it, I just think that it is important that the "rules", as they are important for any game, are relatively unimportant besides the fact they keep everyone on the same page. What is important is the fact that we as players understand the consequences and do our best not to do anything to hurt ourselves or hurt anyone else or a "competitive edge".
