Hey
I have control of the website [NCDAdodgeball.com]. I plan to do some stuff to it. Some updates will happen sometime before the end of June '11, as I include the site as subject of the various homework assignments. Major changes can happen after June as I get more free time.
Hit me up anywhere: fb, email [zmaloni@zigmister.net], ncda forum, etc.
Why I took it on: My major is Interactive Media: "The BS in Interactive Media degree prepares students for the expanding field of interaction design and its application to multimedia and web development." As you might tell, the University itself has no idea what the program is and they named a school after it. It involves a lot of web design and web development; I will add the updated site to my portfolio.
Raymer's done an great job thus far, but as a result of my personality I like to improve things. I also like to have fun. I'm looking to apply what I've learned on a project I would actually enjoy working on.
Call for Contributions: -Web developers? Hit me up and we'll see what you are able to do. It is likely to involve database calling and form submissions. Among other potential things. -Web designers? There is a ton of current content, and I want to reorganize the information architecture to make stuff more accessible and easy to find. Among other potential things. -Content Writers? I'm a big content person, and i'm open to including your submissions. But unlike Raymer, i am willing to hunt people down to actually get specific information with which to update the site.
Ideas? Got some ideas? Requests? Concerns... etc... crap like that? I believe the NCDA is truly a student operated organization, so make the NCDA what you believe it to be. I'm inclusive.
For example, Raymer wanted: Recruitment packet put up on the site, & promoted to the team captains. Also, a very simple craigslist like store (for individual t-shirts / etc)
I'm currently doing up a full site brief as it's due for homework, I'll post that when I'm done in a few days.

I'm willing to write as much/as little as you want me to Zig. I'd help with the website more but I'm pretty computer illiterate so I'd probably do more hurt than help.
Also I think you should keep the results of last season on the website, as well as put the results of the next season. And put the standings on there somewhere. And Eric Sweet baller of the month cuz he got the last kill of the national championship and was a baller at nationals. And I'm sure I'll have more ideas but not right now.
Thanks for doing this too Zig!

I still love the idea of having a baller of the month. That should stay. Also, since the regular season counts towards nationals now, it would be cool to have updated rankings after each game.

Yes. Updated stuff is sweeeeeeeeeet i know all the new guys get excited to find out that we have a website. Also, If possible if we could get separate pages for each team I think that would be cool so that people could know who is on what team. And maybe after each game we could have people from each team write up summaries of what happened and put that on the site along with any video from the game
....... and I'll think up of some other stuff later but I'm excited to see your ideas in action Zig

This isn't something you could implement just yet, but you know how if you load a basketball or football game on ESPN they'll have these 1:00 miniclips with a narration that explain how a game went and reviews highlights? Yeah, that would be cool.

Other thoughts I had on the bus ride in today:
1. Season Previews for each team. I know Josh tried to do this last season, but let's do it for real this year. I'd be willing to help out. We could just talk to the captain/president of the team (easy now that we have the team contacts for almost all the teams) and just ask them a few questions. If we start next week we should be able to do one per week we should be able to get all 20 done by the beginning of September. Which I think would be really cool. I'd be willing to do most of it as well.
2. Individual team pages (I saw Dylan suggested this) with results, their place in the standings, a roster (even if it's more than the 20 people that usually play, I'm sure we could get most teams to turn in a roster.) Just get everyone on the team's name, year, #, and maybe hometown? Just a thought. I'd also be willing to help get everyone's roster, but this couldn't be done until like October/November probably.

I like the team preview idea, we wouldn't have a problem with writing one up for GV.

All these idea are sounding great. I know I (or someone at GV) would be willing to write up any season preview or game synopsis to throw up on the web site.
Team pages is a real cool idea. We kinda have a page on our student life website however we have no access to it and it takes the guy running to forever to update stuff that is if he decides hes gonna post what we give him anyway

I would be more than willing to do content up to and including team previews for the next season.

Yes, I'm currently working as much as i can. I'm still in classes, they will cease around june 8th and i'll be able to more freely put in the time i want to put in. Other than that, i've been updating DePaul's site with officer/administrative stuff and club reregistration, etc. I churn out stuff all the time, i just haven't been releasing it.
Stuff i've done as of this post: - Redid the front page in friendlier html 5 - a nationals 2011 center (videos, info, results, etc: i'm waiting on Bomis or whoever to upload that last video so I can 'market' it from the front page) - a couple dozen sketches for new layouts, general and section specific (like team pages) - a weak site design outline, which i should really post up soon - a few legislative drafts - Right now its Me development side, among content and design, and Champ (K Hill) design side - Recruitment packet is up, i'm redoing the map though
Stuff coming up worth mentioning - as soon as Champ and I finish up the year, we'll work on designing and developing a new template, and some League media (logos, etc.) - completing a reorganization of the site infrastructure - A podcast (might be a DePaul podcast but might be just Champ and I talking about NCDA stuff) - Rulebook release (although I'd like to include a new logo when i do this)
Immediately coming up: updating Baller of the Month (CMU) and hopefully releasing the Nationals 2011 center thing which depends on the video uploads.
So in short Hiller, if you're looking for specific stuff to do: I'm not yet organized enough to really tell you what I specifically need, written wise. But if you have an specific idea you'd like to make happen, I can help foster it.
