So it took me four years and a graduation but I've finally launched the official website of the WKU Dodgeball team at www.wkudodgeball.com Everyone should check it out and let me know what you think. For those who are curious, the site is run through blogger and the template is adapted from a wordpress theme. I set the site up through godaddy and blogger so that I only have pay for the domain name and not hosting (since that's done at blogger.com) but can still have the good URL show up when it's forwarded to the blog. That probably sounds nerdy, but it was cheaper and easier -- two of my favorite things. My question to the rest of the league -- does any other team have an official website? It would be nice when the NCDA site is updated to have a page that lists each team's website (if they have one). That makes the league look more legitimate and is a nice way to represent each school outside their info on the NCDA page.

Nice, DePaulDodgeball.com has been a website for a long while and reasonably active for about 5 years... I did some major updates around January. We lost a bunch of the old news articles because Magoo [now a security manager at Facebook] didn't give me a backup. There are a few old websites still around, I know OSU and UWP have some old sites, Kent has an old site, also K-State... old enough that i'd rather not promote em unless a captain asked me to. there are a few others that I probably stumbled on a couple months ago. Also: 1. I'm making a page for each member-team on the site. NCDA Member-Teams are entitled to this. 2. Teams will be able to submit content (new or revised) for that page anytime. I can edit it for them, or they may give me their file to upload. 3. If they have the ability to maintain it, member-teams may request a subdomain off the main website, essentially getting a full site (or single serving website if they so choose) - This includes databases (so you can get wordpress) - This includes your own FTP login (so teams can maintain the back end personally) - I'll install Wordpress or a simple CMS for the team if they want to maintain it. 4. If a team has a domain name, I can provide hosting and they can point the domain to my hosting account. - This includes databases / dedicated FTP - Same benefits for installing wordpress or another simple CMS.

Updates! So here's the deal:
Among other reorganization, the Teams page is moving to a more global contact us page.
Then each member team receives page of information (like ncdadodgeball.com/msu), displaying elements yet to be determined but including: history, contact information, traditionally hosted tournaments, descriptive information and other, non update-a-bunch info.
These team info pages will include links to a decently, regularly updated external website that a team might have, like WKU's info page having a link leading to WKUDodgeball.com.
Now a question: Which teams want a website they can control?
Teams that answer yes will likely to be given a wordpress, unless a team has their own web designer / web admin to update their site. I won't promote a website that has clearly outdated content, unless somebody bugged me about it.
This wordpress will include some helpful plugins useful to a team website. Player profiles were brought up by Moody. And of course if you have free license to develop your own layout if you don't like the [NCDAcom layout adapted to the team's colors] layout provided.
The earlier post made in this thread is very valid in the options it gives. So, please post up or contact me in another way.

MSU would like a page please Zig that either we (most likely Bomis and I) can update or give stuff for you to update (whichever's easiest for you)

we have a website, but I think we would much rather prefer to have one that can be updated through NCDA's site.

Ziggy! Moody would love to have a website through the NCDA, but one thing I would hope to put on it is some brief player profiles.

This is our updated website. The site we used was super easy and free. Took a while to put all the information on there, but wasn't too bad. www.wix.com/dodgeballdukes/main

JMU, MSU, and Moody have their wordpress team sites put up. If anyone else would like one, just let me know in some way. i can add you to my facebook 'support thread' too, if you wish.
We're still working designing and coding the template, our deadline for release is Nationals, for now.

That website is pretty cool. How long did it take you to set all of that up?

not very long! I've been working on articles for a couple weeks now, Bomis had the dodgeball border and new logo using the Nike font set up who knows when, and I don't know how long it took Zigmas to set it up, but it's been within the last two weeks that we've been working on it! Thanks!

Bomis had the dodgeball border and new logo using the Nike font set up who knows when I'm more than happy to make that available to any team who wants it - all it requires is a color change and setting the background to tile.

setting up a team site (like MSU's) now takes about 120 seconds. Populating with content would be the team's job and take longer, but wordpress is super simple and easy to learn, and also versatile. I think hiller did a great job.
