This event will now be held on Sunday, January 30
Pools: We couldn't get enough courts on Saturday because Chicago Athletics Club or whatever has all the Saturdays booked for basketball; we'd only have one court to work with for the greater portion of the day. We have three courts for the greater portion of the day on sunday. And I don't want to figure out the pools and court schedule because I'm not really a bracket guy, so i'm going to make Kevin Lange do that after he gets back in December.
For 8 teams: Still going to be pool play, but teams will not be able to play every team in their pool. We have three courts for about two rounds, then two courts for the rest of the day.
For 6 teams: Everyone will probably be able to play each other team in their pools.
We are having a dedicated officiating staff, but the teams not playing may need to provide a few people to officiate. Probably just a few shot clock timekeepers, and only for the first two rounds.
Schedule: The idea will be to end early so people can drive home if they can't miss classes on Monday. I'm going to try to work on done by 4:00 but no promises. We are also starting early, with matches starting at 10:00am, with reason stating that teams would probably be staying Saturday night and not driving to Chicago on Sunday morning. If you're a team that has to get home/long way to drive, i'll arrange the games so you get done as early as possible.
The first post has been edited with new information and will continue to be updated as needed.

Since I'm spending the Fall in Belgium with no dodgeball, this tournament will give me approx 27 days of DePaul Dodgeball to get my dodgeball skills back in order. I'm ready for the challenge.

WIU, got you guys up there. I also talked to you this weekend so you're good to go.
Also, Moody Bible Institute will be co-hosting the Chicago Dodgeball Open with DePaul. We'll still be having the event at DePaul's Lincoln Park campus on Sunday, Jan 30 if there's any confusions. Confucius looks a lot like confusion, wow
Also also, Heisman, you came out of the womb ready to play dodgeball. There will be no challenge, as the Challenge saw your arm muscles and ran away.

Updates:
In keeping with the esprit de corps of college dodgeball, we will not be checking id's or enrollment records for anyone participating in the CDO. We'll take it on honor that your team is legit. We toyed with the idea that these matches wouldn't count towards your record, but ultimately found that too drastic.
In training our officiating staff, i've instructed them to urge fast play over slow play. This means that I've told them "if a team looks to be purposely milking the Shot Clock to 15 seconds to waste time, call the shot clock violation more than letting a reset on 15"
Teams: We have six teams committed thus far, with room for two more: BGSU, DePaul, WIU, CMU, MBI, UWP Please claim your spot if you want to attend. UWM is officially attending, but won't have a full team to compete. They will be hanging out/officiating
Event fees: $30 per team - as said before, this pays for about 3 pizzas per team and for dedicated officials. I will be contacting heads of state, via email or text message, in order to try to get this upfront via PayPal. Maybe after the New Year.
Pools/Bracket: Heisman/Kevin Lange will be posting a schedule soon. We will use logic to arrange the pools, but if you have a specific team(s) you'd like to play, either PM me or email it on over: depauldball a-a-at gmail d-d-dot com

Food: Do you guys actually want food, or should I not put in the order? There would be no event fee if there was no food. Or would you like something other than pizza? There will still be gatorade.
Hotel: Since nobody actually talked to us about a discount rate, we aren't doing anything event specific discount. But DePaul still has those special rate under the previously mentioned link. For those coming in the night before, let us know as we are down to chill / we might be throwing a fundraiser on Sat night.
Dodgeballs: If you're picky about your dodgeballs, you are free to bring your own. We have about 30 broken in balls and another 30 brand new.
Schedule: Please show up at 9:00am, no later than 10am.

I have to say though, putting Moody Bible up against CMU in only there second match. Kinda harsh concidering they are easily #1 or #2 team in the Nation.

McCarthy,
I went by the "Current standings" thread and it has you guys as #6 I believe. Granted I'm sure that is because you guys haven't played as many games as others, that is what I went off of to match teams. I can revise accordingly if you guys would prefer to play more experienced squads. That being said, DePaul has been practicing with Moody, and granted they haven't played a tournament, they still have talent, even if it's not MSU/WIU/CMU talent. I think it's beneficial to everyone if they're not introduced to the league by avoiding matching them with the high caliber teams. I do understand where you're coming from and I can revise the bracket to accomodate you guys.
BG Baller: I'm glad you share my enthusiasm for the Gladiator match for the bye, definitely more fun than going by point differential.
Heisman
