We know Chicago is expensive, just by living here. There is no reservation cost to book the Ray. We want visitors to have some fun while they're here. We are trying to keep the tournament fee as low as possible in order to facilitate the operation of a well run tournament, but allow people some funds to enjoy the neighborhood. This tournament fee will be going towards Officials, food, and that's it.
If you need an inflated fee for your records/requests, we can do that.
Food/Drink/Social:
6 Cases of Gatorade will be provided by DePaul University on behalf of Pepsi (a free service btw)
Pizza for all - while not fully planned yet, we would like to provide some meal at the conclusion of said event. But I still stand by my claim by pizza for all. Or food for all, depends on what we get. We want to feed you, and we might consider a social afterward. Or maybe we can have people over the Saturday before for a Social. It all depends on you telling us when you're coming in.
Search "food loc: Ray Meyer Fitness and Recreation Center, Chicago, IL 60614" on Google Maps for more great local places close to the Venue. Chicago loves to eat.
Lodging:
Holiday Inn - $109 - 5300 Touhy Ave, Skokie 60077 - 847.679.8900 This is about a 15 minute drive to DePaul's Lincoln Park campus (LPC)
Comfort Inn - North Shore - $89 - 9333 Skokie Blvd, Skokie - 630.957.7106 About 25 min.
We are continuing to look into a group rate, let us know how many rooms you want and we'll factor it in. We can haggle. Not every team attending may be able to stay in the same hotel, since there is not that many double beds to go around.
You are also welcome to look into your own rates. Here's a bunch of places with a DePaul rate. Just make sure you ask about a DePaul rate when you register.
Some members of the DePaul Dodgeball Society are also offering limited space in their own apartments near campus. We remember how good MSU was to us in letting us stay at their places for Nationals 2009, so we could do maybe 10 or more people, if they're in the need.
I had 5 guys from Kent stay at my apartment for the Hat Tournament earlier this year.
If you need help in registering or looking at stuff, hit me up buttercup. I want to help.
Parking:
Street parking bordering any part of DePaul's campus is non permit, other parts are either metered or labeled as permit. There is also a parking garage down the street.
Permit spaces: Permits are only in effect from 6:00pm - 7:00am. It's ok to park there doing the day, just can't stay there overnight.
You cannot park in the church parking lot, which is across the street from the Ray! It will be probably be blocked off and you will be towed.

Other Information:
- About the CDO: The Chicago Dodgeball Open was part of the tradition of how the NCDA now handles its large tournaments, such as Nationals. Stemmed out of the original Michigan Dodgeball Cup and the start of inter-collegiate dodgeball, DePaul's intention is to put on a great tournament in the CDO and continue the tradition of DePaul Dodgeball: putting the LAUGHTER back in SLAUGHTER.
- We would love to have the CDO be a great opportunity for the western-most teams of the NCDA to get in some competition, in addition to playing a children's game. We'd love to see Nebrasky, WIUy, UWPy, and the new guys from UWMy. As well as Moody. They be cool too.
- Not confirmed as of now, but we plan on having a film crew/ at least a picture dude to take some action shots.
- I owe a lot to Zac from UKY for getting things up with enough time to plan for funding and such. While I put this a weekend after the Kentucky Invitational, it's definitely not my intention to upshow. That's just how the dates worked out between the MDC, the UKY Invite, and Superbowl Sunday. Plus the idea of Paid Officials (together with WKU's Nationals Officating plan) is a perfect idea if I can pull it off.
- I also owe a lot to Ian from MSU for the operation of the his MSU invite in November. I like to think I know how to run a tournament, as i've ran a few before, but it never hurts to learn and observe.
- DePaul will also be hosting a Post-Season Hat Tournament after Nationals... looking to be something like April 30th.
