At RIT we established a dodgeball club two years ago. Broke a world record last year www.guinnessworldrecords.com/records-6000/largest-game-of-dodgeball/. This year as President of RIT Dodgeball Club, I was thinking of spreading it to the collegiate level to face other University and maybe take a trip to Vegas to play in the NDL. Sadly you guys are 8+ hours from us, and there isn't any teams near us. Also, the NCDA National, do you have to play other teams to be qualified to play in it?

I don't know how Spencer's doing it this year, but in the 3+ years I've been involved with the league there hasn't been qualifiers for Nationals. Last year there were certain teams that "qualified" for Nationals based on previous finishes/how they did in major tournaments, but every team had a chance to play whether or not they actually played during the regular season (I believe Northwestern St didn't even play in the regular season but played at Nationals, they're in a similar situation where there's not really any teams by them).
I would suggest trying to get a school close to you to get a club (that's really hard I know, but it's worth a shot) and Josh Raymer has a packet you can send to interested schools if you talk to him about it if I'm remembering right from this year's Captain's Meeting.

We might head up to Nationals then.
Setting a club up will be harder, I guess we'll deal with on campus tournaments and such. The past hours I've been viewing different things like Reddit and found a team in Ottawa, CA. They are four hours to us, but at least we are getting closer to another dodgeball team.

For teams that have epic drives try and talk to the host school to see if you can get a third or fourth team to go, that way you won't feel as if you drove epic hours for nothing.
