Hey Sam, don't know if Im reading this correctly but i don't think game five has two teams in it since there will be no loser of game one....

due to the requests of LCC and Macomb I'm switching the first round opponents, so MSU is playing LCC and Macomb is playing SVSU.

So the way it's set up, the winner of the winner's bracket has to wait 5 hours before they play the championship game, while the winner of the loser's bracket will be fresh out of a game and immediately plays the championship game?

yeah it sucks, but the winner's bracket winner should be rested while the loser's bracket winner should have to play at least 3 games in a row/5 games in the day...so they should be tired.
I wish there was some other way to do it but I couldn't figure out a better way to run a 7 team tournament.

you could have game 9 play instead of game 11 at 1:45 and then have games 11 and 12 play at 3pm and then game 13 at 4:15pm and then the championship game at 5pm... unless you lose gym 3 at a certain time to some other event?
so then the winner of the winner's bracket gets a bit of a break and then the winner of the loser's bracket plays a few in a row and you end a bit earlier?

Well if we keep it this way we don't need to use gym 3 longer, which keeps the price down for everyone since we'll only need gym 3 for a certain amount of time, but if other teams are willing to do your route I'm totally down.
plus your way would pretty much guarantee a chance for the championship game to be two games if the loser's bracket team wins the first game. I like your way more but I'll let other teams decide.

i mean idk about having to play two championship games if the loser's bracket team wins the first championship game lol. I guess that would make sense theoretically and in the sense that that would be the winner's bracket's first loss, but i dont think anyone's going to agree before the tournament starts to want to do it like that lol.
plus you'd save money on only having to have the sports arena court for 1 hour less

I would recommend that you just separate the losers bracket from the main bracket. That way you don't have to have a 2 game championship but those who lost can still fight for a 3rd place finish.

I think it will work well the way it is. If we separate the two brackets then Grand Valley can win with only beating two teams and that doesn't seem right. Also I think it would keep the intensity up for the loser bracket teams if they still have a chance to win.
For the championship game the winners bracket team should still have to lose twice. If MSU beats Saginaw in a early round of games then Saginaw comes out of the losers bracket and beats MSU in the championship game who's to say which team is the better one unless there is a third game?

Well it's a moot point now. Mike just let me know that MCC can't attend. So here's what we're gonna do:
Two pools. Pools split by rankings. Each team will get a game against the other two teams in their pool. Then first plays first, second plays second, third plays third. If somehow everyone goes 1-1 well we can do point differential for the tiebreak.
pools are 1,4,5 and 2,3,6
POOL A (in the Sports Arena)
SVSU MSU LCC
SVSU vs LCC (11am) MSU vs LCC (12:15pm) SVSU vs MSU (1:30pm)
POOL B (Gym 3)
GVSU EMU CMU
GVSU vs CMU (11am) EMU vs CMU (12:15pm) GVSU vs EMU (1:30pm)
3rd place game- Gym 3 (2:45pm) 2nd place game- Sports Arena (2:45pm) Championship game- (4pm)
If anyone has any changes they'd like to make let me know.

Yea about Emu. Sorry guys. We have only 2 people that are available to come to the tournament. I regret to inform you that we no longer can attend. We got some pretty big problems going on in the program. I would have to right now that we probably won't be able to attend nationals. But Cameron and I working around the clock on this so hopefully we'll have something for nationals but it doesn't look good.
