Tournament: JMU's Big East-Appalachian Super Tournament or more aptly named BEAST.
Tagline: One awesome acronym. 4 unnecessary words.
Date: February 25, 2012
Location: The ever so picturesque campus of James Madison University. More specifically, the University Recreation Center on campus.
Address of Campus: 800 South Main Street, Harrisonburg, VA 22801
That will not be the exact address of the place we are playing but I will post up a map for y'all to check out so you will be able to make it alright to the recreation center.
Teams Attending:
Purple Division:
James Madison University[JMU] - VA
Towson University[TU] - MD
Miami University[Miami] - OH
Ohio State University[OSU] - OH
Gold Division:
Kent State University[KSU] - OH
Virginia Commonwealth University[VCU] - VA
University of Maryland[UMD] - MD
University of Kentucky[UK] - KY
Tournament Fees: As of right now, the tournament fees are going to be $25.00 per team, this will offset the cost of getting referees, court fees, etc.
Places to Stay:
Best place to stay in Harrisonburg in respect to the university recreation center, the parties, and closest off the highway, you want to stay in the Days Inn off of 81. It's 5-minute walking distance from the gym, so driving it's literally seconds. Rates are $63 a night there.
If you are looking for literally the cheapest hotel possible, I would check the Motel 6 on East Market. I'm pretty sure the last time I checked, it was $39 a night there. A little bit more of a drive, but it isn't bad at all.
Social:
We will be having a party at one of our apartments down here, and probably mixing with our club swimming and equestrian teams. So it will be going down for sure. If you are staying the night on Saturday, I highly recommend you guys hit us up and we're gonna party it up.
Schedule:
Potential Schedule of Events:
8:30-9:00 Set-up, JMU Dodgeball Meeting
9:00-9:30 Captains Meeting, Warm-up
9:30-10:30 Block 1
10:30-11:30 Block 2
11:30-12:30 Block 3
12:30-1:30 Lunch Break
1:30-2:30 Block 4
2:30-3:30 Block 5
3:30-4:00 Small Break before tournament matches
4:00-5:00 Tournament Round 1
5:00-6:00 Tournament Round 2
So we will have two divisions, the Purple and the Gold division. Each division will have 4 varsity teams. Each team will play the three varsity teams in their division and some teams will just have a scrimmage against the JMU JV team. Those divisions are posted above; they are based off of current NCDA rankings, as well as providing teams a chance to play some unknown or requested teams.
There are five blocks of games that you can play in which gives you enough for the three varsity matches, a possible JV match, and one block for break.
We will seed teams based on their standings in their division round robin. The top two teams from each division will go into a small bracket, facing the opposite seed from the other division. The third seeds will play each other for a 5th place spot, and the fourth seeds will play each other for a 7th place spot. So the tournament schedule would look like this.
4:00-5:00p
Court 1: 1P v 2G
Court 2: 1G v 2P
Court 3: 3P v 3G - 5th Place Game
Court 4: 4P v 4G - 7th Place Game
5:00-6:00p
Court 1: Winner of 1P/2G v 1G/2P
