I totally second the notion of a Michigan vs. Everyone Else All-Star game. The talent would be about even, it provides a national division for voting on teams and the intense vs. comical game style would be hilarious to watch. Plus, one of my goals has always been to bring recognition to individual players in the league and Nationals is the perfect time to do that. Between an All-Star game, the best hands and fastest arm award and mini-game winners, everyone has an equal shot to stand out from their peers during our biggest weekend. If you guys want it, Felix (and Jazzy to a certain extent) will make it happen.

I'd love to see DePaul/Kent/OSU/WKU throw in 5 players each to take on the Michigans. We would be so tricky. You know I got the best "The awesome" throw in the league. Count me in on Depauls team

I think a friday night all star game would be the best time. It gives the arms time to rest, before everyone throws it out on saturday. however there is always the logistical issue, how soon can teams get to BG, Kentucky next year? We can be there by 3 AM saturday if we haul ass.

But Michigan doesn't even have a team! The Spartans have always wanted some Wolverine rivalry, recruiting them should be a top priority!
P.S I know you meant all the michigan teams, we just call UofM Michigan up here lol

It would be great if UofM could get a team together. OSU would love a match.

I thought i remembered hearing about U of M putting some sort of cap on club sports or something similar that prevented them from having a team.

Yea I emailed their club director last year and they told me they would love to have a team but they already have to many club sports. So someone needs to go murder their girls rugby team or knitting club

I think Felix is on to something with setting up the ROB 9000 and seeing who has the best hands in the league. Maybe having some sort of skills competition like they do in a lot of the pro sports all-star weekends. Put up some hoops and have an accuracy competition, set up a radar gun, etc. Although travel time would probably make this a pipe dream for many of the teams.

We're considering putting the skills challenges and All-Star Game before the actual games on Saturday. That way, teams could warm up for the first day without the pressures of competing. Also, doing the events on Saturday would ensure that every team got to participate since they'd be there for games anyway. Trying to move the events to Sunday would also be unwise since most teams leave town after their last game and wouldn't want to waste energy before the important games started. Trust me, this is much more than a pipe dream. Western is gonna be pulling out all the stops to make this the best Nationals yet. And to prove it, the planning started today. I'm sure we'll be posting teases of what to expect on here as our plans develop.

Maybe we should make the tournament a 3 day tournament? I know for other club sports Nationals is a long event. Volleyball Nationals is a 5 day event. What if you guys had the skills events and All-Star game on Friday, pool play on Saturday, and tournament on Sunday?
I know that Central also gives out notes to students to show their teachers so they can be excused for club sports. I don't know if that is how it is everywhere but it's worth a try.

I know in EMU's case 90% of the players don't even take any Friday classes which helps us with a late thursday night practice. However i think we could get an excuse if need be in the event of a 3 day tournament. The only problem you are looking at there is either leaving thursday and missing thursday classes also, leaving super early friday morning and being pretty tired/needing 2 nights or 3 of a hotel. I'm not sure but i think it can work. I actually like the 3 day idea thing the more i think about it. It just needs to be carefully planned by all the schools attending to be sure not to cut yourself short in class, or make cost to expensive. Personally if it was me i would just skip class because i could careless lmao, but i know others on this team would not in any way shape or form consider skipping...

The thing is though, if you get those slips from you school or whoever runs the clubs you should be able to get out of class. And hotels aren't that bad when you split them up between 20 people.

Well see when you have a g/f who is part of the team and does not want to share a room with a bunch of other sweaty guys it tends to be a bill specifically for me Not that i should complain or anything, but yeah it can get pricy...
