Hey guys, with the new season coming up I am trying to make several more videos to pump up the teams/freshman/fans for this year. How ever I am lacking footage/material. Last year we had a chance to capture some amazing moments and turn them into Youtube gold, but as far as I can tell only WKU were able to film their games. We need to do better with filming our games, especially the big ones like GVSU vs CMU, OSU vs BGSU, or MSU vs SVSU etc etc. People are interested in dodgeball, the "Underdog" video I made is already up to 4,000 hits in less than a year. (Im sure 2,000 of those are Raymer) Please, please, please FIND SOMEONE WITH A CAMERA and film your games!!! After that just get a hold of me and I can work on getting them on the NCDADodgeball Youtube account. I wanna be able to have every major game this year filmed and put online. Also, if anyone has some hidden footage, or maybe some epic highlight I have missed let me know. I am working with McCarthy to get the GVSU vs CMU MDC match up online, so if you have anything in mind msg me on Facebook or let me know here. Anyways heres the new "Where will amazing happen" video I made for this year. www.facebook.com/video/video.php?v=434014908262&ref=mf

Once I get the other game footage from UK, we will combine our two camera angles with theirs and it'll be an awesome montage video. There were two excellent headshots during that game that I can't wait to see from the other angles.

I have taken up filming for UK as of now because we have no real camera man yet. All I have is an off-brand HD hand-held camera, but I'll do my best. Any tips for how to really capture the moments? I'm trying anything an everything I can think of... even putting myself right in harms way on the court. The quality should be good enough for Youtube montages too!

When you video tape, concentrate on the people being thrown at more than the actual throwers themselves. So awesome head shots and nut shots will be caught on tape. If you can get both the throwers and the team being thrown at but definitely the people being thrown at.

Not to mention you will be able to film catches that are made. Best angles I have seen is someone standing a few rows up, center court. Avoid zooming on team throws, most of the time people that get nailed in the head are the ones outside were the throwing team was aiming.
As far as cameras, anything will do. Most of SVSUs footage was filmed on a decade old tape camera getto rigged to my laptop. So anything semi HD will be a tremendous step.
As far as getting new footage up feel free to add effect, music and such. But save anything you film. If something catches my eye I might ask to get the raw unedited stuff so I can work with it.

I get chills watching that video. I think that was our newest and most raw cannon, Geoffrey Dewitt. Well, Jeffrey, but his name sounds more exotic the other way. Be on the lookout for him as he's getting better. And as far as video goes, I have exciting news. I have a superb angle from above and behind the base line of either team that allows for everything with no zoom of course. 2 cameras, one on either side, would catch every single bit of the action. It just takes some strength and acrobatics to get up and hold the filming position. I'll keep every bit of my film on computer and edit my own vids but I'll always have the raw footage archived for everyone to have. What about an online database to upload everything we film? unedited and open for use?

Keep using the format we have had on the ncdadodgeball account. Break everything up by points or into 20 minute sections and put them online. Make sure you label everything properly too.

I will do that for games. For practice though, it's more about the benjamins. Am I right?
benjamins=headshots

I have the full DVD footage of the games we taped at the MDC last year if you're interested. They were taped from an observation deck above the playing field.
