That is indeed the rule. If a player from a team false starts, the captain must exit the game. If the captain is not in, then one of the alternate captains, at the other teams chosing, must exit the game. This did not occur in the CMU/SVSU game to my reckelection but I may be mistaken. I know that it did occur in the SVSU/MSU game and was handled incorrectly. I have to agree that I feel as if the league is getting out of control. I feel like we are almost taking this too far and should just all look back and pause, thinking of how we played dodgeball as kids. If you get hit or know that you got caught, leave the playing field.
Come on guys, this is a little ridiculous that we cant play fair and have to start lying, because simply put, THIS IS DODGEBALL. Does any other players get laughed at when they tell their friends they play college dodgeball? LOL I know that I always get a few looks towards me such as people thinking "Is this kid for real?" or "He plays college dodgeball.. wow." All im trying to say is that if we want this league to go further, then there are ALOT ALOT ALOT of things that will have to be talked about.
We play a club college sport. Its not a varsity sport. Its coming out of our own pockets, other than the few dollars our schools give us. We need to stop and just think how lucky we are to even have this league and that we get to travel and meet all these new people from different schools.

^^^ Fisher I agree 100% i get laughed at non-stop. "We are number two in the nation" (everyone laughs) haha There is so much more to worry about than people yelling on the board. Which you did, so you should be banned for using CAPS haha. I 100% agree with everything you said and give me a break guys.
I even saw assault mentioned in this board if you throw to hard from to close. If I make the dumb move to be to close to a hard thrower with a ball I deserve to get hit in the face and we all know I have taken my fair share of head shots.
I got a concussion from a GVSU throw last year and was drilling point blank two years ago by BGSU's best thrower. He absolutely smoked me and I held my face in pain for a second but gave him a head nod and walked to my respected line. If I get hit in the face it is normally for doing something stupid. So take the good with the bad and if someone smokes you give them a thumbs up.
Like football players who disagree with the new hitting policies, you were trained to hit them as hard as you can to avoid catches and large gains. Same thing in dodgeball if you let up on me from 2 feet away there is a good chance I will catch it. Not to toot my own horn but thats just what happens. My own teammates dont let up on me from 2 feet away at practice anymore because I have done it so much.
Its dodgeball hit me as hard as you can within the rules. Strip the ball from me during game play ( well I guess thats not within the rules anymore), and yell at me as much as you want.
Its a great game

Its a great game I agree 100% we don't let up on guys no matter how close you are. If you are within 3-6 feet away, alone, and you can get blasted...you deserve it. Personally I get in the zone and it's always kill kill kill. I never stop and say let me kinda hit him because he's close. A very good example is uk against uofl at the KDC. A player from uk ran up on a uofl player, instead of throwing hard and blasting the kid. He tossed it, not exactly easy but no where near hard and the uofl guy managed to catch it. Does this happen alot? Nope but if it was 1v1 then that's a game decider. Do I mean to be a thingy and blast you at close range? No, I do it as a "safety precaution" no offense but yeah it's Dodgeball.....but just like every sport your gonna have risks and when u play you take the risk of getting your face drilled or any other part of you. Note: I don't rush people and launch it as hard as possible, but by no means do I let up to save people pain. Call me what you want. Say bad things, but it's just a way I look at it.

I agree that you shouldn't let up, it might sound mean but i would rather headshot an opponent hard from 3 feet away then him having any chance whatsoever to catch it. If you don't want that to happen then don't run up into the neutral zone unprotected.

The whole blasting thing could be avoided if some discretion is used. Saturday I think I had a kid who stayed in the neutral zone too long trying to get a ball. I ran up on him and we both knew he was about to get creamed. I asked him if he wanted to call himself out and he simply raised his hand and went out. If you wanna take the risk and try to make a catch feel free to do that. If not theres no same in calling your self out. Just be ready for a nice bruise if you choose to go for the catch.

Haha Stein yea I guess I did use all caps, oops my bad. But yes, I think Ive told sooo many people that I play college dodgeball and the majority laughs at me, which I dont care because they dont know how fun and intense of a sport it is. I come from a 16 year travel hockey background so im used to intense sports and contact. It is dodgeball, we should all be used to getting blasted a few times by now.
I like what Jardine says about asking a player if he wants to go out, but dont go back on your word if you do call yourself out. If your in the neutral zone, your bound to get smoked if your alone and make a stupid decision. Its a tough situation whether or not to throw as hard as you can at someone that is there, but yet again, its dodgeball. We know what were all getting into and if you want to take the risk of singling yourself out and leaving your team to be unprotected, thats your decision. Usually a safe bet is to aim at the feet, but then again many people jump now and its tough to control your throw if your going all out. Simply put, use your head haha.
Go Wings! Boom.

I tell people ere at Wku that I play Dodgeball and it's always this response. "there's a Dodgeball team?" or "that's Badass!" People love it here! As for the close hit thing, Spencer I personally would only ask someone if they were the last person. I wouldn't think to ask if there were more then that. But I think your alternative is a good one non the less.
It all comes down to if your going out alone or have played more then a year ou know what your getting into. Be prepared to get creamed because alot of people, myself included, won't let up just because you though you could go beast mode and mess up hahaha

Probably the worst offence of up close throwing was my freshman year at nationals (when it was at MSU), this delta guy ended up literally punching a Marshall kid in the face with a dodgeball. Needless to say I gave him a redcard considering that was a little unnecessary. I also remember this one red head kid from CMU a couple years ago gripe about me hitting him hard in the leg from point blank. I think Ryan Schian was reffing and just looked at him and was like "dude, he hit you in the leg go away." Needless to say I lol-ed.

Mike McKay!!! LMFAO If he gets out it's always someone elses fault. You could be on the endline and he could be at our throwing line and it would still be your fault.

Spencer, you're only like 20 posts from 500. Are you gonna throw a party or something when you get there?

Maybe, was going to when I realized I was about to read God status. But then I see McCarty over here who was pretty humble about his god status, so im thinking just a small party with just one or two kegs.

LMFAO I think we need to ban Spencer. He is outrageous right now. Talking about drinking and throwing parties. What kind of college student does such things?
