Hey I was just thinking that it would be sweet to do a video at nationals and make a highlight/recap video of who the games went with the scores and what not. Maybe put a bracket in the video and a few highlights of each game leading up to the championship game. I think this would be sweet, but it would take time, man power and the will to do it. What does everyone else think?

I like where your head's at Chad. Documenting every game at Nationals is a big priority for WKU, so we've recruited some students in a video editing class who are going to tape both days as part of a class assignment. They'll use the school's equipment (very nice) and I'm hoping we'll be able to attach microphones to their cameras and provide some commentary right on the tape. All in all, they'll be about 49 hours of footage, so sifting through all the tape looking for highlights would be a massive project. But I'll tell the announcers to make a note when a big play happens, and if players can take mental notes, then we'll know what to look for during games. That should make the whole process a lot easier, and at the very least, we'll post footage that anyone can download and create their own highlight with.

Raymer, are we going to be commentating on every court. Like one person on each court or what?

That's right Mike, one commentator at each court. They'll (hopefully) be joined each game by a new co-host from a team that's not playing and would like to talk dodgeball.

count me in for being a co-host!! I'd love to talk dodgeball about any team (Though one i know would present better comentary no doubt). Also do you have hired officials for nationals or will there be some playershelping out from each team?

Right now it is looking like we will have 1 paid official per court on Saturday, and 2 paid officials per court on Sunday. If our budget grows a little bit, we will spring for 2 paid officials per court all the time. We will be having members of the Sigma Chi and Phi Gamma Delta Fraternity shagging balls and we will have club members of the other sport clubs at WKU doing shot clock. The ball shaggers and shot clock counters will be free of charge because they will be working for volunteer hours.

Yeah, our goal is to make it where teams can truly enjoy their free time instead of being asked to ref, shag balls or work shot clocks.

WKU is hiring officials from the school's STRIPES club (for aspiring referees) to be the head refs on both days of Nationals. Right now, we have one ref per court for each game and will hopefully be able to afford two per game if we get good sponsorship money. To ensure that the refs know what they're doing, they'll be coming out to ref WKU scrimmages during the two months leading up to Nationals. We're also getting volunteers to work the shot clock for each game. Like I said, I'm really hoping players will be able to enjoy their free time and not be running around helping out with other games.
