Good people, Felix is helping coordinate the business for the Captains' Meeting this year (in all its possessive apostrophe glory). We've set up a google doc to list everything. In this thread, post up anything you'd like to see handled, or would like to confirm is being addressed in the Meeting! We'll put the current rule changes up there. If you have a specific rule or case you'd like to address, please post it in a new thread in this section. If its anything else that you think doesn't really warrant a new thread, post it up here. The interns will sort it out. That being Felix and I.

Good people, In the past, the Captains' Meeting at Nationals has routinely consisted as a long and drawn out debate. I would argue that some votes may have been too hastily decided just to be done with. I think we could streamline the process. There are three routes we could go with: - Have everything debated and finalized into vote options prior the meeting, with no debating in the meeting which is reserved exclusively for the vote and the next day's schedule. Member Teams not attending Nationals could submit their votes ahead of time.
- Allow the meeting for debate of the issues and anything other movements, but restrict voting to happen after the meeting and via email, after the conclusion to Nationals. The Speaker controls the amount of time given to each issue so that the meeting ends in a relatively timely manner.
- And since there's always room for compromise, a mix of the above two. Minimal debates, quick stuff voted in the meeting, but if anything has strong opinions without a consensus, the Speaker moves the vote to happen via email.
We have downtime from April to August, why don't we use that to better solidify our policy making? I'm leaning towards preparing a good itinerary regardless of either option.

I like the second option, plenty of time for debate and argument, but no hasty decisions being made just because the meeting is taking so damn long.

Additionally, if any teams want to put in a host for Nationals let me know so I can help you all out in prep for the meeting.

I like the mix one, but that's just me.
Some things I'd like to add:
1. Podcast: who wants to take over for me and Mike? We're willing to do it if nobody else wants to, but I think it'd be cool if somebody else took over and was willing to do it well.
2. Website: I like writing for it, and I think Zig does a little bit, but it'd be cool if we had one or two more people working on it.

Option two sounds the best to me. I agree that votes happen way too fast. We need at the very least a night, but preferably a week or more, to think about an issue before it is voted on.

Whilst I've never attended a captains meeting, I would not like to see this one extremely drawn out. I'd suggest 2 or 3, with an agenda prepared beforehand and presented so all can prepare any opinions or arguments.
I've no issues to bring to the table beside potential discussion of the Trap rule (because I know everyone loves it so much).
Also Zac, I'm looking into putting the bid with OSU for nationals 2014.

The Captains' Meeting itinerary has been updated by Felix and myself. If any player or alumni of the NCDA has any thoughts or ideas to improve the League, please submit them before hand. We won't have time to address unmentioned ideas at the meeting! Every NCDA Member Team gets representation in the League, regardless of participation at Nationals, or duration of membership. The meeting will be mostly debate and inquiries, major voting will happen in the Summer Off Season.

How about proposing a set formula on how to determine the seeds for nationals sunday?
This would kinda piggy back on the new standings item as well
Also, i know we had briefly talked about adding some sort of emergency "review board" that consisted of experienced captains or other league members that have been around and involved in the league. Zac and Sam may have more info on that then I do however

I've tried (and failed) to stay out of this thread. I'm advocating for the reduction of the shot clock to 10 seconds at all times. Such a move would result in increased action, require increased athleticism, and likely in more entertaining, high-scoring games. Yes, players will get tired. Tired players are more prone to mistakes, which results in more hits and catches.

I would like to add the possibility of increasing the number of bench players a team can use to 10. At least for a large tournament. We are always talking about saving peoples arms and resting people.

Knocking the shot clock down to 10 seconds would simplify the game and lead to more action, period.

The problem with that is it could favor the larger clubs with many members and make it harder for struggling clubs to start competitive and keep their teams active
