Personal opinion...after looking at standings and working on Sunday play I don't think that OT Losses should give you any perks in the standings. A loss is still a loss. But, this is my opinion and if we are looking to make the league more legitimate then we should probably make a move to me more official.

I'm against the current standings and all, but I feel like if we're going to have a standings system we should use it. And if we're using the NHL style standings, it should matter.

If they counted in the regular season and helped determine the pools, then they should count for anything in Nationals. at 2011 NSULA and another team for 2012 was ranked in a higher seed because they lost in overtime.
Here's something from Yahoo Answers on why the NHL uses the point system that I thought valuable:
With the time and money involved in teams traveling to play each other, i think if they play through the regular game time and need to go into overtime, I'd think the bonus point for getting there is a reward for making the trip.
