This summer I have played in several different non-ncda dodgeball tournaments. As most of you know, every organization has there own set of rules that they play by. After complaining to my team about how inferior the rules are i usually spend some time deciding whether any of the different rules could be used to better the NCDA.
This rule originates from a Canadian foam ball tournament (yes I agree, foam balls are the devil and say what you must about Canadians but their dodgeball players are remarkably similar to humans)
Anyways, the rule is that on a timeout called by either team the balls are reset to their original starting position (so 3-4-3). So what this would do is give a team a chance to get out of a situation where they have been pinned on their backline without any balls.

Apparently never got around to posting that I think this idea is stellar! I think it evens out the playing field, and is a better situation for what a timeout could be. Substituting players and forming some strategy.

I like the initial idea because i can balance and unbalanced mach, because usually at one point in he game a team just pulls target practice because a team barely has any balls. The thing I don't know how I feel about is tat if your team has a balls over called against you all you have to do is call time out and then potentially get all the balls back depending on how many players are left on the other team. Or your team can throw all the balls carelessly and then just call a timeout to practically get a majority of the balls back if the other team only has 3 players or less. I just can see sometimes finding ways that will make us question this, I could be completely wrong about it but i thought I'd just throw those potential problems out there. If someone can find ways to dismiss them or if there's not a big worry about then its fine.

Good points Nick! I guess the only thing combating those situations is the fact that you have a limited amount of time outs to use
