Idea: What about alumni "adopting" teams for the Tournament? I'm thinking of the newer schools or ones that tend to get the short end of the stick and could use a boost in the form of friendly pointers or encouragement.

I like that idea. Alumni can "coach" or assist in coaching the new teams.

Zac,
We will be unable to make it to Nationals this year. We're having a hard time to even get enough people to travel with us on in state trips, let alone the championship weekend. Thank you for the opportunity and the invitation. We will hope to see y'all in the future next season.

Different idea because I think that an alumni game isn't going to work (not enough talent will travel to UK) but if we're going with hypotheticals I'm thinking the 2008-2009 GVSU Lakers (0 points given up...ALL SEASON) vs the current NCDA All-Stars.

Still think we should have medals for top 3 teams in addition to the trophy....

Everyone needs to send in their All Star rosters and checks in the next two weeks!

Personally I think having alums kinda adopt younger teams/teams who don't get to play a lot would be great. I know that every year we've kinda been adopted unofficially by people with advice, and to make that official would be a great boost and tool to help newer/younger teams improve.

I'm going to make a request: Uniforms for alumni officials. Alumni play a significant role in this organization. They are helpful soundboards and advicegivers for their old teams, sources of input for newer squads, and they volunteer time and effort in many ways. Also, they are proven to be solid officials. Some sort of recognition or inclusiveness is appropriate. Not in an "alumni are awesome" fashion; rather, something that indicates that "yes, we've been there and done that." I think I've got just the thing. It's simple, clean, retains the alumni's player identity, and at the same time clearly denotes that they're a part of the league. At the risk of sounding immodest, it's better than the zebra stripes in a bunch of ways.

Obviously I don't know Zac's budget, and this would be entirely his call. I would hope there's room in the budget for this, or at least for a subsidy capping the price to $10-$15 per individual.
This has the potential to be a solid tradition. An annual sale for alumni could make this very viable.
