Also we need to try to take a legit league photo this year. I would suggest we do it when you know everyone is going to be in the gym and not playing, like during the half time of the All Star game. We just need to schedule it and abide by the schedule. We were good on it last year, and if we had a correct clock at WKU it would of been fine. We had some cool pictures the past two years. I'd also like to put the schedule up on the mini site, as soon as the teams and games start to get sorted out.

I will release the schedule the Monday that Nationals will start. My hopes are that teams will have solidified whether they are going or not. I don't feel like releasing one and then making 13 different changes as time passes.

Region RealignmentRegions are fluid and flexible. They are designed to group teams together based on who teams play the most. For example, MSU, GV, SV, and CMU played each other a total of 19 matches in the 2013 Season. They are grouped in the MI region because they play each other, not because of any special geographical significance. Although distance may play a part in how teams play each other more regularly, the important thing is the end result. Regions are based on statistics. Here is a sheet detailing who's played who for the 2013 season. I've included the upcoming DePaul-Moody match. The left side (A:F) has results of the traditional Regions (based on past statistics and who's played together), for those teams attending Nationals (17: DePaul Kent OSU MSU GVSU UK BGSU SVSU WKU CMU UWP Miami NSU MAD JMU TU PSU The right hand side has some suggested regions: H:J has regions if they were defined in 2012 Season terms L:O redefines them purely based on the left side of the table (A:F) BG has played mostly MI teams so would move to the MI region. JMU has played every region evenly (what a feat!). UK has played almost more Ohio teams than WKU, although they played WKU four times. Q:S defines a Tri-Region setup, by chance reflecting the three original regions of the NCDA (MI, IL, OH from the first 5 founding members). In this set up, IL functions as the whipping boy it is during the regular season. This region could be used as a low tier, OH as a mid tier, MI as a high tier in terms of pool play. For the past two nationals the idea has been one blowout game, one evenly matched game, and one fun game. The Tri Region might work that way by using IL's less competitive probability. I could calculate another breakdown. I just need to know how many pools their needs to be, and I could use the pure seeds to group teams into pools where they get a fair breakdown, as much as possible. I could even produce the matchups. Note: NSU (or en-SU-la as some are calling it) have traditionally been put into the KY region, but they've played the other regions more in their three year history. 2010: WKU, OSU, KENT (KY OH OH) 2011: GV, OSU, DEPAUL, MSU (MI OH IL MI) 2012: DEPAUL, GV, BG, KENT (IL MI OH OH) So they could be OH then MI>IL>KY Penn State fits anywhere.

going off my last post, I'm doing some possible pools as suggested by Zac. But it should help to know the final tally of the teams. Are there 19 now? I left out Maryland and UofL in my region recalculations because they didn't have any players in the ASG.

So I know I'm not a captain anymore, but would anyone have any objections to me attending the Captains meeting at Nationals?

I have no qualms with someone like Spencer, Raymer, Bomis, etc being at the captain's meeting.

Good People, With some valuable bouncing ideas off of Hiller, I've come up with a pool setup.
Pool Bomis: Kent, MSU, MIAMI, PSU Pool FitzPatrick: UK, GVSU, BGSU, NSU Pool Raymer: JMU, CMU, WKU, UWP Pool Magoo: SVSU, OSU, TU, DePaul McCarthy Extras: MISC vs PSU, MISC vs NSU, MISC vs UWP
I started by dividing the NHL Standings into fourths, naming them after classic figures of the League. The top four were put into one "Region", the next four into another, and so on. Then each first seed of a region was given its own pool, then i selected a team that would give the first seed a unique matchup. I did the same thing for the third seed, and fourth seeds.
These pools go off who's played who... based off the 2013 season mostly, but taking into affect the last three recorded seasons. In this setup, there's no matchups that have seen each other more than twice this season. Most matchups are unique, while some are limited to one match played. (teams that played a lot of different opponents during the season, like JMU, might have less unique matchups).
The McCarthy extras is a special set of games to give the UNT/Moody/VCU people a chance to play on Saturday. PSU, NSU, and UWP have had very little gameplay this season, so it satisfies a small tradition of Nationals: that it functions as a majority of the team's games during the year.
So PSU/NSU/UWP get 4 games as opposed to everyone else's 3, which i feel is fair enough to warrant those games counting as regular season games.

Address to know! You are playing in the Seaton Center and can park in the parking garage next door marked Parking Garage #1. The address for that parking structure is 1290 Veterans Drive 40506.

This is for the Sunday rankings as of right now. We (Dakota Taylor and myself) decided to use the NHL Standings since that has been the standard thus far. I will be the first to propose a new formula for determining rankings, however until then this is what we have. My cohort and myself discussed using MSU's and WKU's formula but decided to use this one. Theoretically in this the lowest seeds without any points could jump up to sixth (if GV lost out-highly unlikely but possible for ten spot jumps). This rewards the lower teams by allowing them to jump as well as protects those ranked higher if they handle their business. In reality this is the simplest version right now. If you have any comments contact me before 8:00 tomorrow night!
Nationals 2013
Season scores: 2 Points awarded for Wins - 1 Point for overtime loss
Current Standings 1. KENT 42 2. UK 32 3. JMU 30 4. SVSU 27 5. MSU 25 6. GVSU 20 7. OSU 8 8. CMU 8 9. TU 8 10. WKU 6 11. Maimi 6 12. Depaul 6 13. BGSU 5 14. UWP 4 15. NSULA 0 16. PSU 0
Pool Play:
7 points per win
total 21 points in pool play
A maximum of 21 points was chosen because it is 50% of the maximum points scored by a team (KENT).
